I love teaching!

I have to say that I love teaching. This year has been a great and the students I have are just wonderful! I think that the younger grades are for me. Where else can you teach, inspire, get hugs and play with puppets all day? To be honest it is hard work, I love the challenage. When they start to read, understand a concept or want to learn more about something we have be talking about...those are the moments I just love. I thought that my life would be different by the time I was 26. There are three of us, but instead of the 21 month old, I have a 21 year old living with us-the Lord works in mysterious ways. (That 21 year old is my sister)I think that is why I am teaching kindergarten-I never thought I would, but now, with no little ones at home, I really can't see myself teaching anything else-1 or 2 grade maybe, but truly I am happywith these wonderful children and learning from them as they learn form me.

I love my parents!!!

SO my parents came down for General Conference-which I needed. I missed my parents so very much, more so my mommy-heart pains! It was so great to see them again. We laughed, ate and were spiritually edified-what more could you want from a weekend!! And it would have been even better if my dear sister Jess-who I also miss dearly and I won't go into it because I will start to cry-could have been there as well with her beautiful family(I miss you Pax and handsome nephew). Funny-Mom gave me my b-day gift early and we took pictures...I thought Nick caught the moment very well. Yes ladies I now own the BBC's five hour version of Pride and Prejudice. (scream now for joy if you wish)As you can tell from my face the moment my mother showed be the gift, I was very pleased...to say the least. Yep I love my family and miss them...thankful for the holidays where I get to see them again!

Dinning room table!

Here is the kitchen and dinning area-with a handsome man sitting at its table. So the only thing we added to the kitchen-besides paint is one mirror(free) the dinning room we added a clock(20@fam.dollar) we repainted an end table that we already had black to paint the repainted table that we already had(both freely handed down to us but now given a fresh new life) We added foam and fabric to the chairs and we also re-stained the table to make it look almost like new-this is my favorite piece in the home because of its grand transformation. Now we are finally done. October has been a great month, living in a finished home that represents us and our personalities. It was hard and we had A LOT of help-thank you, thank you, thank you!-but now we can rest...until thanksgiving anyway. Being a home owner is a never ending job!

Here are the other rooms not seen. So what is new-bookcase for all of our book, which was a must and very needed!(50@IKEA)and an end table(5@KSL)all else we had and love.

The Living Room!!!

Okay all this is the living room-the room in which we tend to live. I am sorry but I am a bargain hunter and I love sharing the deals that I find-if you do not like to know then please do not read the parenthesis. Thanks. What we have done: Painted the walls (19per gallon@lowes)New hard wood floors(for the whole house including padding-790 @RC Willy), new area rug(75@homefabrics), coffee table(15@KSL), tree(free), end table(free), lamp(free) and pictures(all pictures through out the house totaled 50@family dollar). We have our old furniture with pillows(total for all new pillows in the house 20@thrifttown and deseret). We love our living room, where it's cozy enough to relax and watch a movie but nice enough to entertain all.

First installments...

Thank you comcast-boo to qwest. I have to say, I will miss those late night visits to Barnes and Noble. Oh well I think I will get over it.

WE ARE MOVED IN!!!!!

Hello there eveyone! From this new post that means two things; one, we have internet!! Finally!! Word to the masses-never get qwest! NEVER! Two, we are all moved in and the main thing that is left is to hang up pictures and to do fun decorating things...Nick has just reminded me that we need to do caulking for our molding as well...and touch up the paints on our walls...and finish inside our closets...and...well...we are very nearly finished-but it fels like a home and I am happy! So I will be posting soon the before and after pictures of the house. The goal is by this weekend-but we will see. We have been spending all of our saturdays working on the house from 8 until midnight. It is paying off. My goal is to have most things done by this weekend. After this weekend we will have lived in our house for a whole month. Pause for a moment of "Really I've been in this condo for a month-I can't believe it-no way!" So wish me luck and I will post pictures next week. Thanks for all who have helped and continue to help!

Still up-and in a pondering state.

Right now I am almost ready for a shut eye, tomorrow is creeping closer to the present but my head is full of thoughts that keep me awake...mom, you're rubbing off on me. The sandman's bags are empty and the sheep seem to be out to pasture. The thoughts that are running around are of the pleasant kind...blessings. Right now, when all the world should be crumbling around me...I am feeling happy...peaceful...hopeful. That is a powerful thing...a thing that only faith can bring...maybe it's because it's Sunday...and I just renewed covenants that bring me even closer to God. Maybe it's because I have felt the spirit, that peaceful, calming and warm feeling, telling me that I am right where God wants me...and that we loves me, maybe its because I know I have friends and family that I can count on...or maybe its because of the love I have for that handsome mr. man in my life, my dearest friend and example. Truth be told, all of the above isn't a new thing...I am changing and every week I need that readjustment, change of perspective, and re-focus to what really matters, and to remind myself not to become distracted. I know it's a struggle as the the week goes on, to keep the point of view constant, but I am thankful for this moment now. It's tomorrow, I better sleep some before the new day.

So...we are updating!

okay Jilly this is for you! I am updating my blog...I had a goal to write every Sunday and as you can tell...I need to work harder at reaching this goal. So July was wonderful...we went to Nick's family's and met up with some great friend, played songs, ate a lot of food and suffered a lot from allergies. That last statement is an understatement. Poor Nick had his eye's swollen shut-for most of the trip and the trip back home...a car ride full of sneezes and runny-everything! But we recovered and moved on to August. Hello and almost goodbye as we seem to be racing towards the end of the month. When the end of this month comes we will be moving into our own condo(that's the plan anyway). We are so excited-the blogs colors are the colors to the living room and the main blog picture, that room will be our bedroom-with a more Indian flare. I am going to TONS of school, and Nick now is licensed to sell life and health insurances-yep he passed that monster of a test! So all in all, we've been really busy-but very happy. So Jilly that is the "update" with us. Oh wait one more thing-I finally have a calling!!! I am in charge of the programs, which puts me on the activities committee, I know mom, we need to swap ideas, and I am blessed to teach Relief Society on the fourth Sunday. Yep, and it was neat to have my sweetheart set me a part. I love that man...yeah he's the best! I will close with the promise to post again next week. Sure Love Ya!

IM, tweet, bluetooth, High Techno-what!

I just wanted to wish all fathers a happy Father's Day. One day that will mean more in our little Romriell family, but until then, we have the blessing of looking back to our own Fathers and each year becoming more thankful for their love, example and service! We love YOU!!! Also a note. As I try to teach in this world of ever changing high tech. advances, I constantly ask myself, "Am I using all the tools I can wo reach my students?" I am taking a class about this vary thing. The days of standing in front of a clssroom and talking for hours on end are gone-I never thought that style of teaching very effective and can think of a few...a lot of college classes that I found for good nap times that used this solo as their mode of teaching. So what do I do? I am a blogger...facebooker and e-mailer. But I do not texter(though Nick is slowly bringing me to the dark side of IM) and I am not twitter. I take pictures with my phone but I can't figure out how to download them and I am a fan of bluetooth, but I can't seem to get it to work. So...I know I am not as advanced as I could be, but I don't think I am stuck in the dark ages. I am thinking of ideas of how to use the time my students already spend on; the computer, cell phones, video games, TV, ipods, MP3 player, etc. But if anyone has any ideas let me know. I want to use all the tools I can and if the students are already spending the time...I would like to use that time for education time. Maybe this would work better if I twitter the question...does anyone know how to tweet?

It's May, it's May!

It's May! Not just may, but we just had May Day yesterday. Some may not know what May Day is. Well honestly my knowledge (as in the case of most of my knowledge) comes from the song and scene in the musical Camelot "It's May it's May the..."well to hear the rest of the words, listen to the show. I fear it may have a deep Celtic background that has to deal with the bees and flowers-not just the spring kind. All in all, I think of Spring and beautiful bright colors budding forth, shouting against the gray overcast sky-the warmth is coming! As a result I packed away my sweaters and scarfs in hopes of the rising climate change-not a pun against globe warming, for those that are sensitive . Spring makes me think of past springs. Yes one very late spring comes to mind. I was dancing at a talent show, my friend and I, plus her sister thought we were westren swing dancers and were set on winning the show by our tricks and technique. We were dressed in our most hick-ish "get-ups" (seeing as we lives in rual America we didn't have to look too far) We were a sight to see...or laugh at depending on the on looker. Did we win, well...no. My parnter was six five and loved to throw me like a rag doll-(added to the laughter, we were the goofiest pair) when we did the "candle stick" (a simple lift where I am swung above his head and we look like a stright candle stick-our heights made us a 11 foot candle stick) my leg caught a strimmer which wrapped around my leg, then my partners legs, and then the other dancers' legs, lets just say we didn't end in our final pose like we had played, more like a heap of westren clothed arms and legs. But that isn't the point, nor the reason for the memory. No this was the first time I saw Nick-my tall(er than me) dark and handsome husband. Yep, he too had come to the singles ward talent show in hopes to win. He played a song with his guiter. Now to state some needed exposition, Nick had written several different kinds of songs at this point, majority being love songs. I have lucked out on that one. But there were some funny ones as well, running along the Adam Sandler vein. He sang in a similar vioce and with the same silly/funny humor.
Having said that, I think you can fully experience this interesting story in our past. So Nick, in his Hawaiian shirt, jeans and sandles, pulls up a mic. and states that he wrote this song for his grandparent's wedding aniversary. (Mind you he got third place with this song!) And in the best Adam Sandler funny voice he sang, "WOMAN GET BACK IN THAT KITCHEN" that is what came rolling forth. Sure it was clever and witty, but for my young feminist mormon mind it left quite the immpression. Not a postive one. Now in his defense it wasn't a degrading, anti-woman song, it actually made the woman the person of respect and honor-but I don't think I listened too long to get the point. What a first impression. We just laugh about that now for I can't imagine life without him now. (nor would I want too) Now here is Nick almost nine years later, still writing songs, mostly love songs for a very happy and lucky wife! Isn't spring time just wonderful!

Transitions strengthened by Conference

We are both very thankful for General Conference. This is a time where the Lord's chosen voice pieces, Prophets, seers and revelators speak to us, giving us comfort, direction, pricking our hearts to change and become better. This is a chance to recommit and strengthen our faith, binding ourselves to the Lord and His kingdom with greater resolve. If you have not attended a General Conference session, you should. It happens twice a year and can save you loads of money on self-help books, seminars and counseling-that's been our experience anyway. Plus it helps us remember what it takes to truly be happy-and who doesn't want to be happy. This conference was special to us, for we went with open and prayerful, earnest hearts seeking guidance and strength as never before. We are in a Transitional point in our lives. I know what you're thinking-you just went through one, you just moved away from everyone you knew to a foreign place, were you had real jobs and real worries! We know-complete change, but the Lord likes to keep you moving. It's been seven months already and it's time to grow and stretch again. Nicholas has been called to serve in the Bishopric for the Lee Ward, Granite Stake, in South Salt Lake City, UT. (review in case you don't know where we are)We call the pastor or Shepard of our ward/ congregations the Bishop. He has two councilors that help him meet to the temporal, emotional and spiritual needs of the people in the area. This doesn't mean they are more special than anyone else-the Lord doesn't have a corporate ladder to climb-it means at this time the Lord needs Nick to serve and learn from strong examples, the amazing and prepared Bishop Cullimore, the strong and true Brother Riggs and every ward member, calling or no, that Nick will try and serve on behalf of our Savior. We are excited about the call. Plus we can become better friends with these men and their wives-both have been such examples to me so far! So there is our latest news. We know that this is the Lord's will and His church and work, and with this knowledge we know He will prepare, strengthen and guide us to succeed. Everyone have a wonderful Holy Week, Passover and Easter! We love you all!

Happy New Year India!!

How fun it was to celebrate the Indian New Year with my dear and beautiful friends. The food, entertainment and company were wonderful!! I had a blast!! And since I am a fan of such a rich and exciting culture, I jumped at a chance to be a part of it! I am truly blessed!








And I was able to where the traditional dress as well! I felt like a princess!! An Indian princess.













You can see the miracle work the Swetha did as she did the finishing touches for the necklace and ear-rings.










There was a chain that connected to the ear rings and were placed in the hair. I've never seen anything like it. It was so much fun!! I didn't understand anything that was said, but to repeat and bring emphasis, the food was great, the people were amazing and I felt like a princess...what else could you want?

Baby!! Dearest Valin!!I couldn't be happier!!!

I am a happy Aunt!! So I was able to see my new little nephew and his beautiful mother-my dear sister and the awesome daddy-Paxti-my great brother-in-law. These are about one eighth the pictures taken that night...I might have gotten a bit taken away, but being an Aunt to such a cute baby-can you blame me? So....the pictures speak for themselves, I'll just add a little comment here and there...like for this picture...I truly could not stop kissing the little guy....oh he was so cute!!!




Valin is peacefully resting in Nick's arms. I told him he looked natural at it....doesn't he! I have such a good man for a husband!!










Someone else that was natural was Jillian. This is her singing...or talking...lets just say loving the baby boy, we are lucky to call him our Nephew.

Speaking of missing...I was able to see my dear sister!!! I miss her so much it hurts!! But I was making up for the lost hugs and talks-that is for sure! Isn't she beautiful!!! She is such a awesome mother....so natural and amazing. I know I will learn much from her and her example!








Are we sisters? Yes we are!!! I love you Jilly! Look how here comes a model everyone.













Sister power!! Oh does anyone feel like singing, "As sisters in Zion?" Anyone? I know Jill you think that was too much...well mom laughed, she thinks I'm funny! I love my beautiful and talented sisters, I am very blessed to have them in my life. Strong and go get them women-examples for me and my future generations.
